In-Person and Online Meeting Policies

Attendance

SDPC reserves the right to limit attendance at any session for safety, professional confidentiality or organizational reasons.

Confidentiality

  • Ensuring the confidentiality of all clinical material presented at our meetings is of the utmost importance to SDPC. Attendance is contingent on an agreement to adhere to the following guidelines:
  • Clinical material must not be discussed outside of the session in which it is presented and furthermore must not be recorded, conveyed, or disseminated in written or electronic form. 
  • Participants must agree to maintain a secure environment to be utilized solely by the registered participant and protected from intrusion by, or exposure to, unauthorized persons.
  • Presenters of case material must have either obtained informed consent from the patient (or guardian) or taken other carefully considered measures to safeguard confidentiality.
  • If at any time a participant suspects he, she or they may recognize the identity of a patient in a case presentation, the participant must leave the session immediately.
  • Failure to observe these guidelines constitutes a breach of SDPC ethical principles and may be cause for disciplinary or legal action or both.

Liability Statement

By registering for and attending SDPC’s events, I agree and acknowledge that I am undertaking participation in SDPC’s events and activities as my own free and intentional act, and I am fully aware that possible physical injury might occur to me as a result of my participation in these events. I give this acknowledgement freely and knowingly and that I am, as a result, able to participate in SDPC’s meeting, and I do hereby assume responsibility for my own well-being and safety.

Acceptance

By registering for and attending SDPC’s events, I hereby agree that I accept the terms stated above and indemnify and hold harmless SDPC, its affiliates and their respective directors, employees and agents (including, without limitation, any agent acting on its behalf) from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) resulting from attendance at SDPC’s events.

Code of Conduct

It is the policy of the San Diego Psychoanalytic Center (SDPC) that all participants, including attendees, exhibitors, SDPC staff, volunteers, invited guests and all other participants at SDPC meetings both in-person or online will conduct themselves in a professional manner that is welcoming to all participants and free from any form of discrimination, harassment, or disruption. SDPC is committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all meeting attendees regardless of age, religion, race, color, gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other individual characteristics.

Any participant experiencing an unwanted situation should immediately report the incident to an SDPC staff member who will contact SDPC's Professional Development Chair, Executive Director and if necessary, the SDPC President.

Consequences of unacceptable behavior may range from a verbal warning, ejection from the meeting (without a refund), being banned from future SDPC meetings and events or notifying appropriate authorities.

Photography

SDPC, its contractors and attending news media may be photographing or videotaping scientific sessions, courses, meetings, seminars or events. By attending SDPC meetings and meetings, attendees acknowledge these activities and agree to allow their image to be used by SDPC in association publications, on the SDPC website, and in marketing and promotional materials. Attendees at this meeting waive all claims against SDPC for any liability resulting from these uses.

Video and Digital Recording

All or portions of SDPC meetings and even may be recorded. By participating in this meeting, SDPC registrants agree that SDPC may electronically video or audio tape their attendance at and involvement in any program. No individual or entity may electronically record any portion of this meeting without prior written consent.

Pets (In-Person Meetings)

Please note dogs and other pets (except for service animals) are not allowed in meeting rooms and the exhibit area during the meeting.
